GERRY ORVIS Peacefully, with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness, at the Health Sciences Centre, Gerry Orvis, aged 44 years, passed away on the morning of April 7, 2003. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 26 years, Debbie; his children, Jaymie (Joey), Kylie (Dean), Darcy (Alan) his beautiful granddaughter Avery Lyn (his little Beb) and grandson-on-the-way Joshua-Dean Gerry; his loving mother, Linda Hourie; his brother Wesley (Carla) and the boys, Brendan and Kyle; his sister Laureen (Dwayne) and the girls, Morgan, Stacy and Ashley; his baby brother Lonny and son Joseph; his loving mother-in-law Helen LAbbee, as well as his Beg Fella Bernie and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Gerry was predeceased by his stepfather Lyle Hourie, father-in-law Lauria LAbbee, best friend Darryl Anderson and his little pal "Baby". He was born in Selkirk, MB on June 5, 1958 and was raised in Grand Marais, MB. Gerry moved to Red Lake, ON in 1976 to work in the gold mines. He then met his wifey and soon began his family. Family was important to Gerry, his three girls and granddaughter meant everything to him. Pa enjoyed spending time with his little Beb and those memories will be with us forever. In 1994 Gerry, along with his family, moved back to Selkirk, where he resided until his passing. During Dads 26 years with Mom he enjoyed golfing, bowling and many family vacations. His passion in life came from being in a mine drilling or downstairs creating and building something with wood. In 1999, Gerrys life took a drastic change when he began kidney dialysis at the St. Boniface Hospital. Throughout life and his illness, Gerry was a very courageous, strong-willed person, always there to greet you with a smile. He was a very compassionate person, always placing others needs above his own. Dad, you will be greatly missed but will ALWAYS remain in our hearts. We love you. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 11 at 4:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, with Pastor Stan Richards officiating. Interment to follow in the St. Clement Cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude for the caring and compassion the nurses and staff gave Gerry while at St. Boniface and Health Sciences Centre hospitals. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerrys memory can be made to the Kidney-Dialysis Department at the St. Boniface Hospital. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
